Mountainview Woodcrafting

About Us

x
After working as a software engineer for 37 years, Henry Smith of Longmont Colorado, decided to retire and pursue his dream: professional woodcrafting. Having specialized in jewelry boxes as a woodcrafting hobbyist, it was natural to carry this skill over into a professional career.

The beauty of the box is in the wood.

Henry’s boxes are made from beautiful, figured woods to create stunning and dramatic pieces. A certain integrity is added to make the box “feel good”. There are no sharp edges or rough surfaces, and close attention is given to the structural quality of the piece.
Charlie
When Henry's dream of starting a woodcrafting business became a reality, Charlie, who had been a wife, mother and homemaker for over 30 years, went to work as a Personal Care Provider in order to support the new business. In 2005, she retired in order to devote more time to it.

After going full-time with the woodcrafting business, Charlie took over the jobs of cutting and pressing the veneers that give character to each lid, and creating the decorative intarsia that is often added as an adornment to the boxes. She also constructs the velvet linings, necklace pouches and ring holders that go into the interior of the boxes, and helps with the final sanding, oiling and spraying.
